Prashant’s mission is to revolutionize work by building ethical, explainable AI products that combat bias and boost ROI. Prior to starting Accrete, a leading enterprise AI company, Prashant spent a decade in high-frequency trading, consistently producing alpha by finding arbitrages in the market microstructure. Prashant eventually recognized that the digital explosion would create an onslaught of complexity characterized by misinformation, contradictory news, and viral influence. Accordingly, Prashant shifted focus away from high-frequency trading to employing artificial intelligence to combat information complexity and help knowledge workers make better decisions in the digital age.
Prashant spent a decade bootstrapping the research and development of an AI platform that could simulate memory and understand context at scale with human-level accuracy in a cost-efficient manner. Eventually, Prashant rolled his previous IP and core team into a new structure and officially launched Accrete in May 2017 with minimal external capital. Under Prashant’s leadership, Accrete has built a world-class team, a portfolio of impactful AI products that solve meaningful real-world problems, acquired a roster of blue chip enterprise customers, efficiently managed hyper-growth, and achieved profitability.
Accrete’s modular AI platform is comprised of building blocks called Knowledge Functions that solve classes of information complexity problems such as predicting viral narratives from social chatter or modeling influence between entities. Accrete’s Knowledge Functions are currently powering AI tools that solve significant real-world problems such as helping hedge funds source market-moving M&A rumors before they become widely disseminated; music labels identify commercially viable artists before competitors; collectibles companies authenticate, attribute and grade coins, baseball, and trading cards more efficiently; the Department of Defense surface anomalous narratives; and more.
Prashant has won an IBM Beacon Award for Best New Application by an Entrepreneur and has been recognized as an IBM Wild Duck. He has been invited to present his work at several conferences around the world including various JP Morgan and IBM conferences and has been interviewed on Nasdaq, CNBC, Cheddar, and Silicon Angle's the Cube. Prashant’s innovations have also been featured in IBM TV commercials that aired during the Masters and the Super Bowl showcasing quantifiable results. Prashant is a graduate of Hamilton College and lives in Lower Manhattan with his wife and two small children.
With almost 20 years of experience in financial analysis, investment research and portfolio management, Josh has held various senior level positions in the hedge fund industry, where he has been a portfolio manager, Director of Research and analyst. After almost 2 years at Goldman Sachs, Josh was an equity analyst and senior portfolio manager for one of the largest hedge funds in the world, London-based GLG Partners, LP. Josh was also an analyst and portfolio manager at SAC Capital. Josh is currently an investor in and advisor to a portfolio of private companies.
Mayank is a hedge fund veteran and brings two decades of practical experience running organizations to our team. As a former fund manager, he recognized the accelerating need for market participants to adapt traditional methods for extracting alpha to the exponential growth in unstructured data. His desire to help facilitate that change led him to co-found Accrete.
Prior to Accrete, Mayank’s experience includes launching a successful hedge fund focused on global convertible arbitrage, co-managing a convertible bond sales and trading desk for a broker-dealer, building and co-managing an Asia-focused capital markets business and managing large arbitrage portfolios for three hedge funds. Mayank began his career at GE Capital where he gained significant financial and operating experience across multiple business lines. Mayank also holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Connecticut and an MBA from New York University.
Adam leads our Knowledge team that works with our analyst, AI research, engineering, and development teams to create latent mathematical representations of tacit domain knowledge that seed proprietary learning models with context. The Knowledge team also provides feedback to these models and helps establish learning curves and accuracy measurements. Adam is a graduate of Hamilton College and Columbia University.
Dr. Doganata has been conducting research, initiating, developing and delivering projects in broad research areas of computer science for more than 30 years. Prior to joining Accrete.AI, Dr. Doganata has worked as a Research scientist and as a Solutions Technical lead at IBM T. J. Watson Research and IBM Watson Health. His responsibilities included planning, architecting, delivering complex, technology-based, innovative data driven solutions and prototypes using data analytics, information management techniques, NLP, machine learning, predictive modeling and cognitive technologies. His current focus is to extract insight from structured and unstructured data using artificial intelligence to make timely and accurate decisions in financial domain.
As the Chief Technical Officer at Accrete.AI, Dr. Doganata monitors and assesses new technologies as well as existing technology choices, aligns technology-based projects with the company strategy, drives innovative solutions for future offerings, improves existing offerings. He also acts as the Chief Innovation Officer to develop and foster innovation culture, manage the innovation process, identify and protect Accrete.AI’s intellectual property.
Dr. Doganata received his Ph.D. degree from the California Institute of Technology, Pasadena, California, B.S. and M.S. degrees from the Middle East Technical University, Ankara, Turkey, all in electrical/electronics engineering. He has 48 patents, more than 40 peer-reviewed publications in scientific journals and conferences and a number of innovation and excellence awards. He is the recipient of IBM Eminence and Excellence Award in 2014 for his contribution to build an innovation center for a bank in Spain.
Dr. Agarwal is the Director of AI Research at Accrete. His past work used data-driven tools inspired from non-equilibrium Statistical Physics to analyze, model and understand Nonlinear Dynamics and Stochastic Processes. He worked on examining the dynamics and predictability of Arctic sea ice extent from satellite observations, which in turn affects the lives of all living beings through its impact on global climate. This study encompassed combining the concepts of Multifractals, Noise and Chaos to understand the variability of sea ice extent on multiple time scales. In an extension of this, he developed a stochastic model that explains the statistical structure of the very complex and non-linear behavior of Arctic sea ice velocity fields.
Dr. Agarwal received a PhD in Applied Mathematics from Yale University and a Bachelor of Technology from the Indian Institute of Technology.
Dr. Pant is an AI Scientist at Accrete. His experience involves developing high-fidelity physics-based and data-driven models to study the complicated non-linear interaction between turbulence, chemical kinetics, acoustics and molecular diffusion which is typically observed in aircraft engines, rocket engines, and scramjets. He developed a generalized compressible turbulent combustion solver which uses a stochastic model, the transported probability density function (PDF) method, to study turbulent reacting flows ranging from low-speed subsonic flows to high-speed supersonic flow problems. He used this solver to develop a deep understanding of the effect of transient flame dynamics on thermo-acoustic instability in a rocket engine. He also worked on developing data-driven modeling approaches to study thermo-acoustic instability.
Dr. Pant received a Ph.D. in Aeronautics and Astronautics Engineering from Purdue University, a Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University and a Bachelor of Technology degree in Mechanical Engineering from Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology, Nagpur, India.
Dr. Kim is a Senior AI Scientist at Accrete. He previously worked at Amazon, optimizing its Natural Language Processing approach for unstructured data insight from product reviews. In addition, while at Amazon, Dr. Kim developed automatic summarization algorithms that aggregated sentiment towards any choice of product features, by using word-embedding and deep learning models. Dr. Kim's Applied Mathematics Ph.D dissertation embodies his work of creating simulations of biological neural networks and developing mathematical reduction models to explain and emulate the numerical solutions that represent biological neural network activity. Dr. Kim used numerical methods to solve Hodgkin-Huxley PDE’s in second-order accuracy, combined with the cable equation and a synapse model to replicate the signal transmission inside and between neurons. His study revealed the effect of negative feedback on the network, which linearizes its input-output relation.
Dr. Kim received a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences (at New York University), a Master’s degree in Mathematics from the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor) and a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Seoul National University, Seoul, South Korea.
Dr. Baly is a senior AI scientist at Accrete. Prior to joining Accrete, Dr. Baly worked as a postdoctoral associate at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Dr. Baly’s experience involves developing machine learning models for Natural Language Processing (NLP). He worked on optimizing models and meta-frameworks to perform sentiment analysis in different languages — English and Arabic — taking into account their linguistic and morphological characteristics. He also worked on developing models and systems for automated fact-checking, which involved a variety of NLP techniques, including predicting factuality of bias in news media, measuring the stance between claims and full articles, and learning embedded representations for entire documents. His research is published in top-tier journals (ACM TOIS and ACM TALLIP) and conferences (ACL, EMNLP, NAACL, etc.)
In addition to completing his postdoctoral research at MIT, Dr. Baly received his M.E. and Ph.D. degrees from the American University of Beirut, Lebanon, his B.S. degree from Aleppo University, Syria. He also received a research scholar fellowship from Intel Corporation to spend a one-year research visit at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
Aside from research, Dr. Baly is an accomplished classical violinist.
Andrés is a trading veteran with 15 years of experience as an active investor across the capital structure. His experience as both a discretionary and quantitative trader gives him a keen understanding of how markets move and where opportunities for cognitive products are greatest. He designed and developed five fully automated black-box trading systems and co-founded Titus Securities which was subsequently acquired by T3 Trading Group in 2011.
Andrés is also a graduate of the Wharton School with a degree in economics, entrepreneurship, information systems, and marketing.
Chris has covered the software sector as a research analyst and investment banker for more than 15 years. Most recently, Chris was a Director in the Technology Investment Banking Group at Perella Weinberg Partners, where he advised software clients in the enterprise applications, intelligent automation, and analytics among other sub-segments. Prior to Perella Weinberg Chris was a Co-Portfolio Manager and Senior Equity Research analyst at Northview Group, focusing on the firm’s technology sector investments. Chris was also a Vice President on the Software Equity Research team at Goldman Sachs, where his coverage included business intelligence, ERP, product life cycle management, and customer relationship management software companies. Chris began his career as an investment banker at Simmons & Company, working for clients in the oil service sector. Chris has a BA in International Relations from Brown University and spent his Junior year studying at Tunghai University in Taichung.
Micah Boster is Head of Partnerships at Accrete. Prior to joining, he was COO at Kaptyn, helping to transform the legacy taxi industry and enabling it to remain relevant in a rapidly changing transportation environment. Earlier, he spent eight years at Google in the Washington DC, New York, and San Francisco offices. While there, he was an early member of the Federal Enterprise Sales team, building deep relationships between Google and both civilian and military leadership across the Federal Government. Later, he managed a global book of Google's top advertising partnerships, growing and managing complex deal structures across sectors and regions. Having extensive experience in the SaaS, AdTech, geospatial, real estate, transportation, energy, and data security spaces, he is focused on helping partners leverage the latest technology to discover new solutions to old problems.
Micah holds an MBA from INSEAD and a BS in Symbolic Systems from Stanford University. He currently lives in Mamaroneck, NY with his wife and daughter. In his spare time, he enjoys table tennis, cooking, playing the drums, and scuba diving.
Bill Wall is the CEO and co-founder of Accrete AI Government, bringing commercial and Wall Street proven AI solutions to the US Government. Bill has a unique background combining elite military service and deep experience in the sale and implementation of innovative solutions that drive business transformation.
Bill has eleven years’ experience building successful teams in the IT industry. Previously, he was the Director of Digital Transformation and Chief Information Officer for Barrick Gold in Argentina for two years. Before joining Barrick, he was a business development executive, operations and sales executive in the Washington DC area serving the US Government market. Bill has worked in both Fortune 500 and startup companies. His experience spans IT hardware, software, big data analytics services, geospatial software, and IT solutions reseller companies. Prior companies include EMC, Praescient Analytics, Boundless Geospatial and Flywheel Data.
Before entering the corporate world, Bill retired from the Army as a Special Forces Lieutenant Colonel after twenty-two years in service. He was the founder and first commander of a unique computer network operations organization in the Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC). He had multiple deployments to Afghanistan, Iraq and Yemen working closely with the national intelligence community to transform the way JSOC developed and shared intelligence. During his career, he also deployed many times throughout Central and South America.
Bill has a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service, and a Master of Arts in International Relations / Latin American Studies from the University of Miami.
As Accrete’s Head of Business Development, Zach is focused on driving growth through new business, partnerships, and go to market strategy. Prior to joining Accrete he ran business operations for two robotics startups in San Francisco and co-founded an economic development non-profit in upstate New York. His ability to learn anything quickly and drive toward critical outcomes is rooted in his experience as a Navy SEAL sniper, freefall jumpmaster, and instructor. During his 10 year military career, Zach deployed North of the Arctic Circle and earned an ARCOM and Combat Action Ribbon while serving out of FOB Ripley, Tarin Kowt, Afghanistan.
Jonathan is an experienced fundamental investor with over 15 years of research experience in the hedge fund industry. Jonathan brings with him experience investing in public securities across a broad range of sectors as well as entrepreneurial experience from launching and managing a start-up long/short equity hedge fund. Prior to joining the firm, Jonathan worked at Carlson Capital as a Senior Analyst covering the industrials sector. Prior to Carlson, Jonathan had worked at several multi-billion dollar hedge funds, most recently as a Senior Analyst at Millennium Management and as a Senior Analyst at Clovis Capital. Jonathan also spent five years at JH Investments, a start-up fund that he founded. Jonathan holds a degree in economics and physics from the University of Pennsylvania.
As the Head of Business Development, Alex leads initiatives to grow the business, develop new partnerships and build the presence of Accrete. As a strategy and analytics consultant and API Economy researcher at IBM, he gained his background in Fintech and helped enable startups to compete with enterprise companies. Alex also has degrees in Psychology and Markets & Management from Duke University, where he merged his experience together to search for cognitive biases in markets as well as in life.
As Director of Accrete’s R&D in India, Rahul brings an extensive background in data analytics and quantitative trading, rich technical management experience and nearly two decades of programming experience. He works closely with our director of AI Research team on the implementation of various deep learning and machine learning models.
Prior to his time at Accrete, Rahul spent nearly a decade working closely with our CEO, Prashant Bhuyan, in previous fin tech endeavors. Rahul also spent 3 years at Infosys Technologies Limited as a software engineer in its research department (SETLabs) where he worked on a patent-pending EII tool. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science from Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology and has been very passionate about markets and investing since a young age.
David Magerman is a co-founder and managing partner at Differential Ventures.
Previously, he spent the entirety of his career at Renaissance Technologies, widely recognized as the best quantitative hedge fund management company in the world. He helped found the equities trading group at Renaissance, joining the group in its earliest days, playing a lead role in designing and building the trading, simulation, and estimation software. On an extended garden leave from quantitative finance, he is looking to use his data science, software development, and statistical modeling expertise to help Israeli startups succeed in the global marketplace.
David holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Stanford University where his thesis on Natural Language Parsing as Statistical Pattern Recognition was an early and successful attempt to use large-scale data to produce fully-automated syntactic analysis of text. David also earned a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Sciences and Information from the University of Pennsylvania.
